Tattoo Removal

Tattoo Removal

Tattoo removal is defined as any method of removing a tattoo from the skin. There is a wide range of tattoo removal methods out there including dermabrasion (scrubbing off layers of the skin), TCA (which is an acid which removes layers of skin), excision (cutting the tattoo out) and of course laser (using energy to break down the ink particles.
Laser tattoo removal works by firing laser light into the tattoo which breaks the ink into tiny pieces, these little pieces are easy for the body to absorb. This allows the ink to be removed by the body itself. Laser tattoo removal avoids damaging the skin while removing the tattoo, unlike other tattoo removal methods.

How does RevLite Work?

TheRevLite laser produces rapid, short pulse widths of energy – this limits the healthy skin’s exposure to heat which makes treatments safe and fast. The resulting effect on the ink is vibration, shattering the target molecules.
Your tattoo will require multiple sessions before it’s fully removed. The amount of sessions or treatments will depend on how large your tattoo is, what sort of ink has been used and the length of time between your sessions.

Does the RevLite treatment hurt?

The feeling of each short pulse is usually described as feeling like the ‘snap’ of a rubber band on the skin.
In the vast majority of cases, having a tattoo removed using the RevLite laser is less painful or at worst – only the same – as having the tattoo done.

How many sessions will I need?

This all depends on the size and type of ink used. As a rough guide a ‘professional’ tattoo will need between 6 and 10 sessions whereas an ‘amateur’ tattoo might only require between 3 and 6.
It’s always best to come and visit for a consultation first – we’ll be able to give you a more accurate idea of the number of sessions required.
